Meet Our Staff
Molly Hegarty is a graduate of the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. She is licensed to practice law in Ohio. Molly draws on her previous professional experience to direct office operations, human resources, University and community relationships, marketing, and outreach and educational efforts of the largest Student Legal Services office in the country. She steadfastly believes in the SLS mission to assist OSU students in removing barriers to academic success.
Molly Philipps is a graduate of The Moritz College of Law at the Ohio State University. She is admitted to practice in Ohio courts, the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Prior to joining SLS, Molly was a member of the litigation practice group at Bricker & Eckler, LLP. Molly thrice has been named a "Rising Star" by Ohio Super Lawyers. She enjoys finding creative solutions to help students resolve their legal problems.
Pete Scranton is a graduate of the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. He is licensed to practice law in all Ohio courts, the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the United States Supreme Court. After law school, Pete worked as a Prosecutor with the City of Columbus. Pete utilizes his background as a former Prosecutor to successfully defend OSU students charged with criminal misdemeanor and traffic offenses. His knowledge of and reputation in the Franklin County legal system are invaluable assets for SLS and our student clients.
Denise Stollings is a graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law. Before joining SLS at OSU, Denise gained experience as a Civil Bailiff to a Common Pleas Judge, City of Toledo Assistant Prosecutor, Staff Attorney for University of Toledo SLS, and a litigation associate with Eastman & Smith, Ltd. Denise was named to “20 Under 40,” a Toledo leadership award recognizing her career and service. Denise appreciates knowing that she’s making a real difference in students’ futures.
Alyson Tucker is a graduate of the Moritz College of Law and is licensed to practice in Ohio and Maryland. Prior to joining SLS, Alyson worked as Franklin County Public Defender successfully representing indigent clients charged with criminal and traffic offenses. Alyson gained invaluable experience and knowledge of the criminal justice system and developed relationships with judges and prosecuting attorneys. Alyson is excited to return to OSU and assist students with issues that may affect their academic success.
Paul Wilkins is a graduate of The Ohio State University and OSU’s Moritz College of Law. Mr. Wilkins is an experienced litigator and appellate advocate drawing on his experience as an Equal Justice Works fellow and Supervising Attorney with OSU’s former Student Housing Legal Clinic. He is licensed to practice law in all Ohio Courts, as well as the Federal District Courts for the Southern and Northern District of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Paul feels that students are the best clients and would not want to work with anyone else.
Andy Peiffer is a graduate of the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. Andy is a former SLS law clerk and also interned at The Ohio Poverty Law Center. Andy is excited to assist the SLS team with its civil litigation practice and its educational efforts. Most of all, he hopes to help students solve problems that they cannot readily solve on their own.
David Uhlendorff is a graduate of the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. David serves as Student Legal Service’s first Criminal Fellow, the duties of which include assisting SLS’s Criminal Defense attorneys in representing students at the Franklin County Municipal Court in various criminal misdemeanor and traffic cases. While in law school, David clerked for Judge Kimberly Cocroft of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas and worked in a variety of legal positions including work in both criminal defense and civil law. David embraces the opportunity to learn while helping students with legal issues that threaten their academic success.
Erin received her Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Psychology from The Ohio State University. After graduation, she obtained her Paralegal Certificate from Capital University Law School. Prior to joining SLS, Erin worked as a Paralegal at a firm assisting in a variety of litigation matters. Erin is actively involved in the Paralegal Association of Central Ohio. Erin is thrilled to be part of team whose mission is to alleviate obstacles for students.
Amy graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. She also has an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies. Amy has worked in the legal field since her first job at the age of 16. Prior to joining the SLS team, Amy gained valuable experience in the local courts and as a paralegal in various practice areas (from adoption law to civil litigation). She truly enjoys interacting with students to help quickly resolve their cases.
Jackie received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University and was employed by SLS as an undergraduate. Prior to re-joining the SLS team, Jackie worked for the Student Service Center at OSU. She is committed to providing excellent customer service and as a recent OSU graduate recognizes the many challenges students face. Jackie is excited to return to SLS and further the SLS mission through outreach, creative marketing, and building positive student experiences.
Cara is a graduate of The Ohio State University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminology. She then went on to obtain her Paralegal certificate from Capital University Law School. Cara is excited to further the work of Student Legal Services and assist students in reaching a resolution to their legal issues and questions. In addition to helping students achieve academic success, Cara also enjoys volunteering as a guardian ad litem through Court Appointed Special Advocates of Franklin County and as member of the Paralegal Association of Central Ohio.
