Andrew M. Peiffer

Andy Peiffer oversees the immigration practice at Student Legal Services. He started his career at SLS in 2013 as a part-time law clerk while studying at the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State. He joined the team as a staff attorney the following year. In 2019, when SLS expanded its scope of services to include immigration and naturalization matters, Andy became the office’s first immigration attorney.  Since then, he has worked with students from more than 50 countries on six continents. (He is holding out for Antarctica.)

Andy has helped students at every stage of the immigration process, from obtaining a visa to gaining U.S. citizenship, and in cases as simple as changing status and as complex as petitioning for National Interest Waivers or applying for asylum. He has always dreamed of serving people in a meaningful way, and he believes that his work at SLS does just that.

Andy and his wife are raising two girls, which is as many as they can handle. When he’s not working, Andy enjoys reading, getting outside, and boring his friends and colleagues with trivia. A few years ago, he went back to using a flip phone. He is sure it will catch on.
